Journal #4 by: Abdi Adan
The speech we heard/read today in class was very motivational and inspiring. I was impressed with president Roosevelt’s writing skills and the way he delivered his message to the American people in an honest and promising way. There weren’t any regrets or any hesitation in his speech. It was a thorough and well written speech that kept me focused till the very end. What also impressed me was the fact that he wrote this entire speech by himself unlike our previous president and many other presidents. He brought a nation that was divided amongst liberals and conservatives together in that very own speech. Roosevelt said, “Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.” I was moved and enjoyed hearing this memorable and historical speech.

I really like his speach also, I learn some great things from from his speech, he delivers some quotes that a person have to give second thoughts about. The quote that you mentioned above about happiness is really remarkable! Having the feeling of achieving something through your creativeness and hard work is the best feeling ever, its makes a person feel way much happier than having money. The posession of meney is temporary but the achievement is long lasting. With hard work and creative effort you will be able to get money, but money cant buy all the achievements in this world, it can get a person somethings but not everything. A person can feel much better when they working to achieve money than having the money given to them as a gift.I hope you get the point im trying to make here?
