Journal 5 Konstantin Gorodnov

In today's reading the first chapter stood out the most. WPA is starting to sponsor art, and a lot of people are not happy about it, and starting to disagree and even think that WPA is worthless, for example New York Times wrote on September 1, 1936 "Their usefulness has been widely doubted". Arts are very important for many people; without art our life would be miserable and boring. WPA was right to support art, even in hard times like these, because art is really important and working on art projects still gave people jobs.

  1. I understand your point. Even though art is very important, people dont seem to value it so thet saw the project as a waste. I believe what the people want at this time was a job that would benefit all. They saw that the art project would only benefit people who know something about art.
